Our Purpose

The goal of any Christian church should be one of salvation, and this is what we believe here at the First Century Church of WNY.

In the bible, we look at Matthew 18:20, where it states:

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.".

The purpose of this gathering is further explained by Hebrews 10:24-25, where to summarize, it mentions:

"Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and do good works, not neglecting to meet together as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the days drawing near".

One more scripture that we look at is Proverbs 27:17, where it reads:

"Iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another."

With these verses, they help us to explain our purpose being one of assembling believers to keep us centered and focused on the things of God. This provides us with guidance for structure and day-to-day living. We want the children of god to be saved and to enjoy the glory of heaven united.

Statement of belief

We Believe That:

  1. There is only one God, known as three persons. He is known as the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

  2. All scripture is true, and made for our use, either for application or for our reference.

  3. We believe in the gifts of the spirit as stated in God's word, and we further believe in the application of these gifts. If they were not to be used today, then they would not be in the word.

  4. We believe that the Holy Spirit works through us in our lives, and that He is directly involved in our day-to-day living if we allow him to be.

  5. We were created with free will, and as free moral agents, we have the choice to do good or evil.

  6. Satan is a real being who is at war with God, and that he is at war with us as God's children.

  7. There is only one way to heaven, and that is rebirth through Jesus the Christ.

Mission Statement

Keeping in mind the words of Jesus which He said in the book of Matthew chapter 25:35-45 where it reads, “For I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was a stranger and you invited me into your home, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you cared for me, I was in prison and you visited me. Then the religious ones will reply, “Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink, or a stranger and show you hospitality, or naked and gave you clothing? When did we ever see you sick, and in prison and visit you?”, and the King will say, “I’ll tell you the truth, when you have done it to one of the least of these my brother and sister, you were doing it to me.”

We will always remember that missions is of the utmost importance to Christ, as we are part of that mission. He came and gave us life, a spiritual life that will never end if we accept him as Lord and savior. Psalm 107:1-2 clearly state it like this: “Oh give thanks to the Lord for he is good. For his mercies endure forever, let the redeemed of the Lord say so. Whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, knowing this we shall all give him glory and praise not ourselves.

We will always be mission minded wherever and whenever the opportunity arises, willing to do whatever is within our power to meet the needs of another, be it physical spiritual or emotional. Always giving thanks to the father and his son for the opportunities to be a blessing to the other, and for the grace and kindness he's shown us.

Let us all stay true to the scriptures that God has given us, let us all learn to uphold the teachings of the ministry of missions as once we were lost, we were found. Where God may have used a person or circumstances in our lives, it was His mission to redeem us, to let us be about our Father's work doing the good work that He has stated for us to do in this holy word.
